Why are we celebrating Friendship?
Here at SWALLOW we are celebrating Friendship this August. The charity values friendship and knows how important friends are to its members and staff alike. Friends support each other, celebrate through the good times and help each other through the bad times.
SWALLOW Charity brings people together for fun times and laughter with its range of social activities including Fun Club events, Men’s and Ladies’ nights and the weekly Boogie Night dance sessions at Westhill Social club. These sessions reduce social isolation, and boost mental and physical health.
Men's & Ladies Nights
This year, our Men’s and Ladies Nights have been up to all sorts of different activities – they have come together for some joint sessions too, which has enabled members to socialise with more people than they usually would.
Earlier in the year they enjoyed a chocolate making and tasting workshop, which was a fantastic opportunity to learn all about the origins of chocolate as well as creating and sampling their own. They have been cycling on accessible bikes at Wheels for All in Bath and visited Chew Valley lake for fish and chips all together.
Activities like these are made possible by donations and voluntary income and are so important in enabling our members to build friendships, stay connected and avoid becoming isolated at home.
Become a Friend of SWALLOW!
SWALLOW relies on its Friends of SWALLOW to help the charity to achieve this aim. If you are interested in supporting such activities to happen, becoming a Friend of SWALLOW is very easy to do. Your monthly donation can be of any size and will go directly towards enriching the lives of local people with learning disabilities. Please visit our Friends of SWALLOW page to find out more and to secure your spot on our Tree of Friendship by signing up!
Throughout the month of August, we are planning various special friendship activities and events – do keep an eye out on our website and social media for those.
