You've probably heard by now about our new charity soap (we can't stop talking about it!) - it has been created by The Somerset Toiletry Company to raise money for SWALLOW, as part of their 25th Anniversary celebrations.
The Somerset Toiletry Company is a Corporate Friend of SWALLOW and the soap is just one way they are supporting the charity - they are also keen to support our members into work. Our Work Skills groups visited the factory late last year and had the opportunity not only to see the soaps being made, but also to have a go at wrapping the soaps. Earlier this year, one of our members started working at their Soap Bar Cafe and in August our Garden Maintenance Team were employed to give their gardens a makeover.
And now a wonderful new soap to raise money - just in time for Christmas!
The soap is wrapped in special packaging designed by Molly, a member of our Tuesday Art Group. The lovely bee design was inspired by the soap’s natural ingredients and we wanted to catch up with Molly to see how she's feeling about her designs going live.
How did you feel when you saw the soaps?
I felt shocked and amazed - it's incredible! It makes me feel so proud to do something for SWALLOW and give something back.
How did you find the visit to The Somerset Toiletry, when they gave us the soaps?
It was the best experience of my life - especially meeting the designer who worked with my picture to make the packaging.
Can you tell us about how you created the design?
I did a freehand drawing of a bee because I thought it would be a good design to go with the scent of the soap. I'm so happy and grateful that they chose my design. I'm also really proud of everyone else in the Art Group that did a design and contributed to the project. It was so nice that we all got to go and have cake with The Somerset Toiletry Company - I asked Lisa if it was hard to choose the design and she said it was!
Is there anything else you'd like to say?
Lots of my family and friends are going to be buying the soaps - they will make great Christmas presents!
