What we do
SWALLOW is a charity led by its members, teenagers and adults with learning disabilities. We provide a wide variety of services to support people in every aspect of their lives?.

About us
SWALLOW supports teenagers and adults with learning disabilities to live active and fulfilling lives.
Our work gives the individual support that each person needs by providing a variety of services including: supported housing, independent living skills training, work skills training and work opportunities; therapeutic, educational and sports activities, outreach support in the community and opportunities to socialise and meet up with friends and have fun
Please see the overview below for more detail about each area.

Supported Housing
In our supported housing units we support our members to live as independently as possible, but with support on hand when it is needed.

Courses and Day Activities
SWALLOW offers a range of courses and day activities to allow creativity and expression and to live life to the full such as art, cookery, football and drama. The groups and activities are requested by our members and we are always looking to extend the range of activities.

Community Cafe
The café is staffed by SWALLOW members who learn important catering skills, both in the kitchen and front of house.

Work Skills
Our members want to make a positive contribution to society through employment but may lack the skills to do so. In our work skills group we teach what is expected in a work environment as well as offering hand on work experience.

Outreach Support
We offer one to one support in peoples homes and in the community. This support can be for day to day living tasks, or to enable people to get out and about in the community.

Independent Living Skills
Base House is a 4 bedroom training home specialising in preparing teenagers and adults with learning disabilities for independence, they can learn new skills, make new friends and help others.

Fitness and Health
Our range of health and fitness activities includes football, swimming, walks and zumba. We are always keen to start new groups if there is interest.

Social Activities
Fun club activities, chosen by our members including Ladies and Men's nights and a very popular once a week Boogie Night dance sessions.

Youth Group 13+
The youth group meets after school on a Thursday to have fun and explore independence and enables links with the adult world to aid transition.
